Hint: They both are very much soluble in water. We usually see their use in daily life, in aquatic life and soft drinks.
Complete step by step answer:
\[{\text{C}}{{\text{O}}_2}\] is named as carbon dioxide gas and \[{{\text{O}}_2}\] is oxygen gas. Let us see the importance of both this gases:
Carbonated drinks are the drinks that contain carbon dioxide in dissolved form. This is our daily life example involving the use of carbon dioxide dissolved in water. Dissolved carbon dioxide is not very much soluble in water. Whenever we open a bottle cap of soda or soft drink bottles then we see bubbles rising out in the bottle. These bubbles are of carbon dioxide which is made to dissolve in water. With water carbon dioxide forms carbonic acid.
High pressure is applied to dissolve the carbon dioxide gas in water because carbon dioxide is not very much soluble in water and whenever pressure is released by opening the bottle cap carbon dioxide gas releases instantaneously creating the effervescence.
Oxygen dissolved in water is very useful for aquatic life. Though a very small amount of oxygen is dissolved in water and that is used by aquatic animals for breathing and for their survival. Certain bacteria in water also consumes oxygen for decomposition.
Note:
The lower is the temperature and the higher is the pressure applied more will be the solubility of the gas because at lower pressure kinetic energy of the gas will be less and it would be easy to dissolve the gas and at higher pressure dissolution of gases is more due to particles came together with each other.
