Concept of taking “Carry” in subtraction:- When we subtract a larger digit from a smaller digit we have to carry out or borrow the “1” from the left column of the upper digit and cross out that left column digit by digit minus one. And replace the upper digit by ten plus that digit. And then simply perform the subtraction operation.

$1.$ In this question, we have
Minuend = 678
And , Subtrahend=494
Then, the result of subtraction is
$ \Rightarrow 678 - 494 = 184$
Therefore, the result of subtraction is 184.

$2.$ In this question, we have
Minuend = 404
And , Subtrahend=235
Then, the result of subtraction is
$ \Rightarrow 404 - 235 = 169$
Therefore, the result of subtraction is 169.
