Hint Using Cartesian coordinates grid references define locations in the map. Coordinates systems are defined by grid lines on maps and are numbered to provide a unique reference to each location on the map which normally is based on projected Eastings or Northings.

Step by step answer
The 6 figure grid references 1,2,3,4,5,6 where 1,2,3 are the Eastings components and 4,5,6 are the Northings components. With the help of grid reference a unique square region is located on a map by a grid reference and grids are arbitrary or can be based on specific distances. By using the 6 digit grid reference we can not only identify the exact location but also the exact point, with the help of 6 digit grid reference we can find the accurate location.
There are 2 grid references mainly
1. Four- figure grid reference
2. Six- figure grid reference, Sometimes eight- figure grid reference and ten- figure grid reference but six- figure grid reference is the most commonly used grid reference.
 In six- figure grid reference-:
a. The first 2 digits represent the eastings to the left of the object.
b. The 3rd digit represents the distance between easting and our object.
c. The 4th and 5th digit represents the northing under our object directly.
d. The 6th digit represents the distance between our object and northing.

Note Grid references are a. Square grid or b. Numerical grid and further, numerical grid is divided in 4types:-
1. four-figure grid reference
2. Six- figure grid reference
3. Eight- figure grid reference
4. Ten- figure grid reference
