Hint- He was the Sachiv (Chief Secretary) in the Ashta Pradhan (Council of 8) Mandal of the Maratha Empire at the time of the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Before joining the services of Shivaji, he was a Kulkarni of Sangameshwar. He had joined Shivaji's administration in 1660.

Step by step solution- Shivaji Maharaj clearly knew the importance of agriculture thus he had paid really special attention to the welfare of farmers. He had entrusted the responsibility of organizing the land revenue system to his capable and very experienced office-bearer who was Annaji Datto.
In the year 1667, Shivaji had appointed Annaji with the task of land revenue reform in areas that were under the Swarajya. Annaji's efforts had led to a new system of lower government claim on-farm produce of 2/5.
The land revenue systems of British India were an important focus in the context of the freedom movement.
Along with the introduction of the land revenue systems in the British Rule, there was a birth of intermediaries naming Zamindars, Mahalwars, Ryotwars, etc. All these groups of people were hampering the cultivators and hence, thus initiative to abolish the Zamindari System was also taken.
Thus, Option A is the right answer.

Note- The system had recognized the zamindars as landowners who therefore had let out their lands to tenant farmers in return for a share of the produce. The zamindar, in turn, thus had to pay a fixed sum to the British Government. The same had led to a lot of exploitation of the peasants.
