Question

# Ram is two years older than Shyam who is twice as old as Mohan. If the total ages of Ram, Shyam and Mohan are 27, then how old is Shyam?

Let Mohan’s age be $x$vyears. Then, Shyam’s age is $2x$ years and so Ram’s age will be
$2x + 2$ years. Now according to the question, the sum of all is 27. So,
$2x + 2 + 2x + x = 27 \\ \Rightarrow 5x = 27 - 2 \\ \Rightarrow 5x = 25 \\ \Rightarrow x = \dfrac{{25}}{5} \\ \Rightarrow x = 5 \\$
Hence, Mohan’s age is 5 years and Shyam’s age is $2x = 2 \times 5 = 10$years.
