It was an armed robbery that took place on a train in central Uttar Pradesh on August 9, 1925. The robbery took place in the town of Kakori, approximately 16 km from Lucknow, where the train was going.

The Kakori Conspiracy raiders were considered to be members of the newly founded Hindustan Republican Association, a revolutionary group, later renamed the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), whose mission was to liberate India through an armed revolt from British colonial rule.
Hindustan Republican Association was an underground group in which political activity was involved.

1) After the incident, the rebels had fled to Lucknow.
2) According to public reports, 40 people were convicted in the process of the trial.
3) Chandrashekhar Azad, who could not be caught, reorganized the HRA and ran the company until 1931.
4) He shot himself at Chandrashekhar Azad Park (then known as Alfred Park) in a shootout with the police on February 27, 1931, after he had been critically wounded.
