Hint: We have to know that what quarts is. This a measurement unit of liquid. This is the unit of volume. Which is equal to a quarter gallon. There are three kinds of quarts. Those are the liquid quart, the imperial quart of British imperial system and the last one is the dry quart of the US customary system. Gallon is also the unit of volume. We can convert quarts to gallons. We should know the formula of transformation
Complete answer:
We know that, \[4qt = 1gal\]. So, we have to convert \[14\dfrac{1}{2}\] into an improper fraction.
That will be \[14\dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{{((2 \times 14) + 1)}}{2}\]
That is equal to \[\dfrac{{29}}{2}\] gal.
So now, we have to multiply this improper fraction which is twenty nine upon two times the conversion factor with quartz in the numerator i.e, \[\dfrac{{29}}{2}gal \times
\dfrac{{4qt}}{{1gal}} = 58qt\]
So the final answer is fourteen and a half gallons is equal to fifty-eight quarts.
Note:Gallon is a unit of measurement of any liquid. Gallon can be expressed as cubic inches or quarts or liters. One US gallon is equal to \[3.7854\] liters or two hundred and thirty-one cubic inches. The US gallon is smaller than the other two types of gallons. This gallon is defined in the Magna Carta as eight pound. This gallon is equal to two hundred and sixteen cubic inches. In India on a daily basis we use gallons as a unit of water liquid. We measure how many gallons of water can be supplied. Four liters is a little more than a gallon.
