Milk teeth are shed and permanent teeth develop. A spurt of growth is experienced between class VIII to class X. Simultaneously, body proportions change. Some new
body features and new sensations begin to appear. The stage is called puberty or the beginning of development for sexual maturity. It is seen usually at the age of 10-14 years in girls and 13-15 years in boys.
At this time gamete producing primary sex organs begin to work. They secrete hormones which result in slow development of secondary sex organs and secondary sex characters. Some of the new body features and sensations are similar in boys and girls while others are different.
