Hint: In general electroplating is a technique that reduces the dissolved metal cations by using electric current so that they will form a thin coherent metal coating on the electrode. Hence we will keep the object onto which we need to coat the metal as one of the electrodes.
Complete step by step answer:
In the question we are asked to prepare a list of electroplated objects around us.
We know that electroplating is a process by which we plate one metal onto another metal by means of hydrolysis. So by doing electroplating, the metal that is deposited on the other metal will become a part of that metal.
We place the metal to be electroplated on the cathode and the metal that is to be deposited is placed on the anode.
Chromium, gold and iron are some of the metals that are usually used to electroplate other objects.
Chromium plating is done in the different parts of vehicles such as cars, bikes buses etc.
Gold plating is the process in which we coat gold over some other objects using the electroplating technique. We mainly plate gold over ornaments.
Iron objects are coated with zinc by electroplating, so that it gets prevented from corrosion.
Some other common electroplated objects in our daily life are:
1. Kitchen utensils
2. Kitchen stove
3. Tap
4. Wheel rim
5. Door handles
6. Tin cans
7. Metal cabinets/wardrobes
8. Bronze jewelry
Note:
If we take an example of electroplating as copper electroplating, we place copper at the electrode and the metal to be electroplated at the anode. These two electrodes will be dipped in the electrolyte and the electrolyte here will be sulphuric acid. Thus by the process of hydrolysis copper will be plated over the object.
