The movement against the salt tax had continued for almost an year and this movement came to end after Gandhi's release from jail.As a result of the Salt Satyagraha,60,000 Indians were jailed.

This march had received the worldwide news coverage.On 5th of February, it was reported that the civil disobedience would be started by Gandhi by defying the salt laws.6 April was chosen by gandhi to break the salt laws.Gandhi was in regular contact with press by issuing regular statements from sabarmati.This march was passed through 4 districts and 48 villages.The event which held in every villages was published in indian and foreign press.
