The author of this storey rescued the newborn bear and brought him to Bangalore, where he was given to his wife. She was overjoyed to discover the small hairy critter and immediately wrapped a colourful ribbon around its neck, naming it ‘Bruno.' But after some time, Bruno had grown too big and was a danger to pets like cats and dogs, so the author decided to send it to the zoo. Bruno did not eat food and became thin because the author's wife was missing Bruno and Bruno was missing her.

On the first occasion, Bruno inadvertently ingested a toxin known as barium carbonate. He was unable to stand since he was paralysed. He was deteriorating fast. Bruno got up after thirty minutes and had a terrific feed after the vet shot him twice. He drank about a gallon of old engine oil in the following occurrence, but luckily he was unaffected.
