Complete Answer: Uttar Pradesh has the longest network of National Highways in India with a total of 35 National Highways. National Highway 1 or NH 1 was the first National Highway of India. It was a part of the Grand Trunk Road and linked New Delhi to Punjab, near the India–Pakistan border. The shortest National Highway is the NH 47A. It connects Kundanoor Junction of Maradu in Kochi city to the Kochi port.

It covers the North-South Corridor of NHDP and it is connected Srinagar in the North to Kanyakumari in the south.
It is maintained by the Central Public Works Department(CPWD).

The highway passes through the 11 states of India which included;
Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
