Hint: Any of the foods or substances that are combined to make a particular dish or any of your favourite food, requires ingredients. Ingredients are used in the preparation of food. A mixture of these ingredients, it leads to the formation of food.
Complete answer:
The food we eat is obtained from plant or animal sources. The food we eat is prepared by mixing several ingredients together like spices and other vegetables, grains. All the major ingredients are either from plants like spices, vegetables or from animals like milk, meat. The two items that are not from plant or animal sources are-
- Salts come from weathering and volcanic activity. The ocean formed very early on in earth history, as soon as the water comes into contact with rock then weathering processes stare these leaches or dissolve the soluble elements preferentially out of the rock made of Sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium etc).
There isn’t much chlorine in rocks but there is lots in volcanic gases and it readily dissolves in water in the atmosphere to form chloride that rain into the ocean. We get a salty ocean if these processes go on for billions of years.
-Water: pure water can be produced from seawater by distillation. During this process, the seawater is boiled. The water vapour which formed due to evaporation is cooled and then condensed down to form pure water which leaves the salt behind.
So, the answer is, salt and water.
Note: Water is said to cover about 71% of land on the earth surface, mostly by seas and oceans. But still, the world has a scarcity of water because there is a lot of wastage of water happening. Water plays an important role in the world economy.
