Hint: The evolution of any species is always a gradual change following Darwin’s theory. Human evolution happened gradually when apes resembling a man in some context changed to complete human beings. There were six different stages of evolution before the evolution of today’s modern man.

> Dryopithecus- These were regarded as the ancestors of humans as well as apes. Belonging to China, Europe, Africa, and India in the tropical lowlands. These were considered to be herbivores near dense forestation.
> Ramapithecus- Belonging to the Shivalik ranges in Punjab and later found in the regions of Saudi Arabia and Africa. They considered open grasslands to live. They were hominid because they have thickened toothed enamel, robust jaws, and shorter canines. Also, the usage of hands for food and defence, and extrapolation of upright posture.
> Australopithecus- They were first seen in South Africa, living on the ground. They made weapons using stones and walked erect. They were quite heavy around $60 - 80$ pounds and four feet tall.
> Homo erectus- First found in java in around $1891$ and was first named Pithecanthropus erectus. They were the bridging gaps between man and apes. Peking man discovered in China has large cranial capacity living in communities. They used tools made up of bones and woods. Also, they were the first ones to use fire.
> Homo sapiens Neanderthalensis – The Homo erectus species evolved to Homo sapiens but they also had two subspecies Homo Sapien Neanderthal and Homo sapiens sapiens. Neanderthals have a cranial $1200 - 1600$ cc. Axes have also been discovered.
> Homo Sapiens– They were named Cro-Magnon who were first seen in Europe. They looked just similar to the modern man with a reduced jaw, small teeth, a chin, and a rounded skull. The cranial capacity was around $1350$ cc. hunting was their primary source of food and they were not herbivores.

There is a distinct difference between apes and man.
Apes had a long-haired body and were quadrupedal. This meant that their hands are longer than their legs. The U-shaped is present with two curves in the vertebral column.
Modern man has short hair and walks on two legs. They do not use their hands for walking. They have a C-shaped jaw with four curves in the vertebral column.
