Hint: The first book he published was a political manifesto which became the Bible of Nazism in Germany’s third reich. It was published in two volumes in 1925 and 1927, while the abridged edition appeared in 1930.
Complete answer:
On July 18, 1925, Volume One of Adolf Hitler’s philosophical autobiography, Mein Kampf (In German- my struggle) was published. It was a blueprint of the agenda which would envelope Europe from 1939-45. It sold 9,473 copies in its first year itself.
The book was written by Hitler when he was imprisoned for five years as he was convicted of treason for his role in the Beer Hall Putsch in which he and his followers tried to stage a coup and take control of the government in Bavaria.
In first part of Mein Kampf which was subtitled “A Reckoning,” a 400-plus page diatribe on the problems Germany—the French, who wished to dismember Germany, the lack of lebensraum, (living space), the need to expand east into Russia and the baleful influence of “mongrel” races was written. For Hitler, the state was not an economic, but a racial entity. Racial purity was an absolute necessity for a revitalized Germany.
He believed that people could be separated into a hierarchy of different races and propagated his ideas based on Darwin’s survival of the fittest.
Hitler believed the German race to be the superior race, and called the German race ‘Aryan’. He thought of Jews to be the inferior race whose purpose was to weaken other races.
He also wanted to get rid of homosexuals, disabled, Roma, Sinti and other minorities that did not abide to his idea of Aryan race. These were labeled as ‘a-social.’
The second volume entitled - The National Socialist Movement, was written after Hitler’s release from prison in December 1924. It speaks of a political program, including the terrorist methods to achieve goals.
Note: Mein Kampf was repetitive, illogical, extremist, anti democratic and even grammatically incorrect. It soon turned into a required reading in Germany. In fact, the government bought copies to give as state wedding gifts to newlyweds.
