Jowar - It is both food and fodder crop which is grown in dry regions. It is an all season cereal crop possessing a distinction of the fifth most important cereal crop in the world. About 50 percent of the total area under jowar cultivation of India is in Maharashtra and the top producer states of this crop in India are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Bajra - It is grown in the regions where it rains about 50-100 cm. Being less affected by the soil deficiencies they can even grow in loamy soils. They require a temperature between 27 to 32 degree celsius. In India, it is grown in about 21 states in total but the main centres are Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.

Ragi - Nutritious value of ragi crop which is also known as finger millets is very high. It is very good and important for health and is grown very extensively not only in India but also in Africa. In India, it stands in rank sixth in case of production. In Karnataka, it is mostly consumed and grown. Other states which contribute to its production are Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttrakhand, Odisha, Goa and Maharashtra.

Note: - Bajra which in English is also known as pearl millet is completely free from gluten and The calories in bajra roti are 116 Kcal, slightly higher than the calories of 80 Kcal in whole wheat roti. However, bajra roti's 3.2g protein is almost double that of whole wheat roti, which has only 1.6g of protein per serving.
- In local languages, ragi has various names. In India, finger millet is commonly referred to as Mandua or Mangal in Hindi, Kodra in Himachal Pradesh, Mandia, Taidalu in Telangana and Kezhvaragu in Tamil, etc.
