Why have most of the cotton textile mills shifted from Mumbai to Ahmedabad?

Mumbai has a smaller area for cotton production than Ahmedabad. The other reasons are that the cost of land in Mumbai is very high. It is cheaper comparatively in Ahmedabad and the cheaper labor can be found in Ahmedabad. The labor cost in Mumbai is very high. The other reason is that the cost of the factory is cheaper in Ahmedabad in comparison to Mumbai and the production is cheaper in Ahmedabad because of the availability of local people. Another reason is the land availability for the factory establishment. Mumbai is very crowded so there is limited space for the establishment of factories and one more reason is the pollution of Mumbai and the climate of Ahmedabad is more suitable. Ahmedabad is best for spinning cotton. The location of the Ahmebadad is suitable for cotton production. It is very near to the area where the cotton grows.

Note: Fort Gloster was the palace where India's first cotton industry was set up in 1818. The second cotton mill was the Bombay spinning company. It was established in 1854. In 1926 India had 334 mills and they were increased by 417 in 1945.
