In the year 1516, Mirabai tied the knot with Bhoj Raj who was the younger brother of the king of Mewar. She used to spend most of her time inside the temple built by her to worship Lord Krishna. Her in-laws were so jealous of her devotion towards Krishna that they often tried to kill her. Once, they sent to her a basket full of flowers keeping a poisonous snake inside it, but when she opened it, she found the image of Lord Krishna in it. Also another time, they gave her a cup of poison to which she drank without any harm. After these incidents, she decided to leave the Mewar and returned to Merta. She visited various pilgrimages that were connected to Lord Krishna.
Mirabai's father and Akbar both were enemies of each other. Once he heard about his daughter, Mirabai, he reached to see her disguised as a beggar. This news, however, reaches up to Bhoj-Raj who was the husband of Mirabai. He got extreme angry on hearing that a Muslim ruler has set eyes on his wife. So he asked her to give her life by drenching in the river. When she was going to the river, Lord Krishna appeared there and asked her to go to Vrindavan and to worship him there.
