Hint:
It is the Prime Minister of India, who is the leader of a party or political coalition with a majority in the Lok Sabha national elections, who wields great power in matters of national interest under the system of government.

Complete solution:
The Electoral Commission is a state body, established under the provisions of the Constitution, which is responsible for monitoring and overseeing all Indian electoral processes. This body is responsible for ensuring that elections are free and fair, without bias. The Electoral Commission ensures that the performance of members before, during, and after the election is legal. People choose their representation through direct and indirect elections.

1. Direct Election: Citizens themselves elect their representatives by voting. The members of the Lok Sabha and State legislatures were elected in this way.

2. Indirect Election: Citizens do not participate directly in elections. Elected representatives are voters here. Members of Rajya Sabha, the president and vice president are elected in this way.

By-Elections: By-elections held when an elected candidate dies or resigns from the parliament of state legislatures. Under these circumstances’ elections will be held only in those areas. Such an election is called a by-election.

Mid-term polls: Sometimes it is possible for parliament or state legislatures to be closed for a period of five years for a variety of reasons. They are then disbanded and selected and captured. This election is called a mid-year poll.

Note:
All election-related disputes are handled by the Electoral Commission. The Supreme Court of India has ruled that where the laws of law are silent or make insufficient provisions to deal with a given situation in the run-up to elections, the Electoral Commission has the power to reserve seats under the Constitution in order to function properly.
