Complete answer: UNESCO, being an agency of the United Nations, works for attaining global peace and security, but it achieves so by development in three major fields of education, culture and science.
Education comes as a very important area, and UNESCO believes the right to education as a fundamental right for all humans. Therefore, first it’s working towards providing a quality level education to all. This is done by constructing schools and necessary infrastructure for them. This program comprises not just financially weak nations but also marginalized sections based on class, race, gender, etc..
Second, it didn’t limit itself to providing text book education but sensitizing people over a range of matters like gender equality, human rights, environmental awareness and much more. Also, it works target oriented working with the adolescents or the school drop outs so giving them the opportunity to vocational skills and training.
