It was established by Sir Henry Gidney in colonial India in 1926. In all of India, it has sixty-two branches. The Anglo-Indian All India Association claims that Anglo-Indians are distinctive because they are Christians, speak English as their mother tongue, and have a historical link to both Europe and India.
Frank Anthony, the first and long-standing president of the All India Anglo-Indian Association, received the right from Jawaharlal Nehru. Two members represented the community. This was done because the culture didn't have its own native state.

Note: The Anglo-Indian reserved seats in India's Parliament and State Legislatures were abolished by the 104th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2019, in January 2020. In their respective State Legislative Assemblies, 14 states out of twenty-eight states in India; Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala , Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra , Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh , Uttarakhand and West Bengal also had a nominated Anglo-Indian member each.
