Hint: The members in Lok Sabha are directly elected by the people from their constituencies in different states of India. The elections are based on the universal adult franchise principle. The strength of Lok Sabha was $500$ in the year $1950$ which has now been increased.
Complete answer:
The Lok Sabha which is also known as the lower house has a maximum strength of $552$ members. Currently, there are $545$ members which have been elected by the people in respective legislative assemblies. Of these, $530$ members represent the states, $13$ members constitute the union territories while $2$ Anglo Indians are appointed by the President on the recommendation of the government of India. Every state is then divided into territorial constituencies such that the ratio between populations in the constituency is the same with the number of seats allotted throughout the state. This ensures that there is a uniform distribution of seats throughout each constituency in every state. Former President Pranab Mukherjee had suggested that the number of seats should be increased from the current $552$ to $1000$ as the constituencies are too large to cater to the needs of the whole population. Currently, every constituency represents about $18$ lakh Indian which is a big number.
Note: Any person who is above the age of $18$ years and is not a person disqualified by law is eligible to vote in Lok Sabha elections and choose his representative. The voting age has been brought down from $21$ to $18$ years after the enactment of the Constitutional Amendment Act, $1988$. A person disqualified by law means the person with an unsound mind, minor, and convicts in the country are not eligible to vote in the Lok Sabha elections.
