Hint: It is the most abundant type of tissue found in the animals. This tissue is also known as packing tissue.

Complete answer:
Intercellular substances are the substances that are found in the body in which tissue cells are embedded, grounded. Intercellular substances are also known as intercellular matrices. Connective tissue connects various tissues and organs in the body; the main function of the connective tissue is that they provide rigidity, support and protection. Connective tissue is formed of a large intercellular matrix, connective tissue cells and fibers. Matrix is non-living, jelly-like grounded substances. Nervous tissue is highly specialized tissue for receiving stimuli and transmission of these stimuli as electrochemical nerve impulses. Nervous tissue does not contain intercellular substances or in other words intercellular substances are very small. It is also known as coordinating tissue. Muscular tissue comes under the category of animal tissue and it is also known as contractile tissue. The intercellular substances are absent in the muscular tissue. It helps in the movement of substances within the body and causes opening and closing of aperture. Epithelial tissue contains a smaller number of intercellular substances or in other words they are absent. It facilitates rapid healing of wounds by its regeneration power. Basically, they are protective tissue. Hence, the maximum number of intercellular substances are found in connective tissue.

Thus, the correct answer is option A. i.e., Connective Tissue.

Note: Connective tissue assists in support and protection of organs and limbs. Depending upon the location in the body it may join or separate the organs or other parts of the body.
