Hint: Every organism reproduces to make new young ones. Reproduction is important for the ecological balance but anything in excess is harmful. So is the population, a drastic increase in populations will lead to scarcity of various items. This will lead to competition.

Complete answer: The birth of new individuals makes the population. When this population rate rises rapidly, we suffer from a population explosion. The population has been blooming unexpectedly from the last centuries.
The four major ill effects of the overpopulation will be
1. Food shortage: we have a limited amount of food grown in the world, so if the population rises unexpectedly, how will we be serving food to each citizen. We will suffer from the food scarcity problem.
2. Higher prices: the shortage of food will lead to rising food rates. The poor will be devoid of food completely. The market will flood with risen rates products which will not be accessed by the poor.
3. Higher level of pollution: more the people, more will the vehicles be used. Nowadays everybody knows how to drive and ride thus everybody has a personal vehicle. So the more vehicles on the road, the more pollution there will be.
4. Increase in Malignant diseases: More the population, more new malignant diseases will come into existence. Malignant is the fast-spreading disease which can spread via any contact. So the rising rate of population will lead to medical issues.

Note: The overpopulation will strain the environment and thus the resources. The access to the natural resources will be limited and they will be exhausted one day if they are not used to a limit. The overpopulation will indirectly cause global warming, intensive farming practices etc.
