Hint- Here, we will proceed by defining the term element widely used in chemistry. Then, we will be discussing the basic idea behind the symbols formation for the elements. Finally, we will be mentioning five elements whose symbols are derived from their latin names.

Complete answer:
An element is a substance whose atoms all have the same number of protons or we can say that all of a particular element's atoms have the same atomic number.
Elements are chemically the simplest substances and hence cannot be broken down using chemical reactions. Elements can only be changed into other elements using nuclear methods.
Although an element’s atoms must all have the same number of protons, they can have different numbers of neutrons and hence different masses.
When atoms of the same element have different numbers of neutrons, they are called isotopes.
Isobars are atoms of separate chemical elements having the same number of nucleons (protons + neutrons).
Scientists have adopted certain conventions regarding the chemical symbols for various elements. The symbol is the short form or abbreviated name of the element. Each element has a chemical symbol that is unique to it. An atom of an element is denoted by this symbol. For example, the symbol for Carbon is C.

Many elements have their symbol derived from either the first letter [e.g., H for Hydrogen] or the first two letters [e.g., He for Helium] of their names. A few elements have symbols derived from their Latin name as given below:
1. Antimony (having symbol Sb derived from its latin name which is Stibium)
2. Iron (having symbol Fe derived from its latin name which is Ferrum)
3. Silver (having symbol Ag derived from its latin name which is Argentum)
4. Sodium (having symbol Na derived from its latin name which is Natrium)
5. Mercury (having symbol Hg derived from its latin name which is Hydragyrum)

Note- Gold having symbol Au (derived from its latin name which is Aurum), copper having symbol Cu (derived from its latin name which is Cuprum), lead having symbol Pb (derived from its latin name which is Plumbum) and tungsten having symbol W (derived from its latin name which is Wolfram).
