Krishna Deva Raya was the son of the Tuluva Nayaka an army commander under Saluva Narasimha Deva Raya he was the one who later took control of the empire to prevent its disintegration and then became the founder of the Tuluva Dynasty. His father belonged to the Tulu-speaking Bunt community. He was then married to the princess of Srirangapatna Tirumala Devi and Coorg princess Chinna Devi. During the reign of Krishnadevaraya Telugu literature and culture flourished and reached their height. In his court, in total eight Telugu poets were considered as the eight pillars of the literary assembly. The period of the empire is known as Prabandha Period because of the quality of the Prabandha literature that was produced during his time.
