Complete Step by Step answer: George Stephenson is famously known as ‘Father of the Railways’. He was born in 1781 near Newcastle. He belonged to a poor family so he could not go to school and joined farming at a very small age. Later he got a job in coal mines and it was the first time he had an interaction with machines. In 1814, at the age of 33 he made his first ‘engine’ using coals. However, being aware of coals, Stephenson manages to get a solution every time he faces failures and finally in 1819 he created his first eight mile railway in Sunderland. His first railways were complete machined power. He was then appointed engineer for the construction of the Darlington and Stockton railway.
