The term monsoon is derived from the Arabic word ‘mausim’, which means ‘season’. Monsoon is defined as the rainy phase of a season-changing pattern, although there is also a dry phase.
The monsoon winds are pulsating in nature means they are throbbing over a period of time and they stop. It lasts 100-120 days(June to Mid- September)
 We usually see the situation when the rain comes for a few hours and stops, and sometimes it lasts a few days. When the rain stops after a few hours and we see the clear sky it is termed as a break of the monsoon and when rain lasts for a long period of time it is termed as a burst of the monsoon. Burst of the monsoon is when normal rainfall increases suddenly and it lasts constantly for several days. During the burst of monsoon, the intensity of rainfall is very high and if it lasts for many days it may even cause damage to farmers, humans, and properties too.
