A thin fake septum is known as a replum. It can be found in the ovary of candytuft, mustard, and other flowers. They are generated when the parietal placenta intrudes into the ovary, causing the ovary to become bilocular. They are most commonly seen in the ovaries of Cruciferae flowers (Brassicaceae).
Replum is the frame-like placenta across which the septum spans, and from which the valves of a capsule or other dehiscent fruit come away in dehiscence, as in Cruciferae, some Papaveraceae, Mimosa, and others. Cruciferae's fruit is a unique type of capsule known as siliqua.
It is opened by two modified carpel valves, which leave the seeds linked to a structure made up of the placenta and tissue from the valves' junction (replum).
The ovary in Cruciferae is unilocular at first but becomes bilocular with the establishment of a fake septum called replum. Replum, thus, is a fake septum, not a counterfeit ovule, thalamus, or placenta.
