Complete Answer:-Intra-articular fibrocartilages are complete or incomplete fibrocartilage plates attached to the joint capsule that extend between a pair of co articular surfaces around the joint cavity. They are called discs when complete, they are called menisci when incomplete. Disks are found in the lower jaw, the sternoclavicular joint and the ulnocarpal joint of the temporomandibular joint.
Each knee joint comprises a pair of meniscus, one between each femoral condyle and its female tibial counterpart. There is a thin meniscus present at the top of the shoulder in the upper portion of the acromioclavicular joint. These fibrocartilages are really components of the diarthrosis fibrous layer in which they occur and, depending on whether they are discs or menisci, they affect a total or partial division of the articular bursa into two components.
In humans, 26 serially arranged units called vertebrae form the vertebral column and are dorsally placed. A thin, oval plate of fibrous cartilage constitutes the intra articular disc. A fibrocartilaginous joint (a symphysis) forms each interarticular disc, allowing the vertebrae to move slightly, and functions as a ligament to keep the vertebrae together. Therefore, between the two vertebrae, there is an intra-articular disc.
