Hint: Article 1 of the Constitution states that the Union of States in India, which is Bharat. The territory of India shall consist of: the territories of the States, the territories of the Union and any territory which may be acquired in the future. Article One grants to Congress different enumerated powers and the right to enact "necessary and proper" laws for the exercise of those powers.

Complete answer:
In the Republic of India, a union territory is a form of administrative division. Union territories are federal territories ruled, in part or in whole, by the Central Government of India, unlike the states of India, which have their own governments.

The President of India administers the UTs through the officials appointed by him: the lieutenant governors. However, the President of India does not hold any autonomous political force. Via different pairs of gloves, the governing system is indirect: the party/parties that rule at the central and state level elect the president, who in turn appoints lieutenant governors to UTs.

India is a federal union of 28 states and 7 territories of the union, with a total of 36 entities.
Union Territories are:
1. Andaman and Nicobar Islands: In the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Islands are an Indian archipelago. The palm-lined, white-sand beaches, mangroves, and tropical rainforests of these approximately 300 islands are well-known.
2. Chandigarh: Le Corbusier, a Swiss-French modernist architect, designed Chandigarh, the capital of the northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. The Capitol Complex, which houses the High Court, Secretariat, and Legislative Assembly, as well as the massive Open Hand Monument, are among his works.
3. Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu: The union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu are located in western India. The former union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu were merged to form this state.
4. National Capital Territory of Delhi: Delhi, also known as the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, is an Indian city and union territory that includes New Delhi, the country's capital.
5. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh: In August 2019, both houses of India's Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019. With effect from October 31, 2019, the act divided the former state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories: 'Jammu and Kashmir' and 'Ladakh.'
6. Lakshadweep: Lakshadweep is a tropical archipelago of 36 atolls and coral reefs off the coast of Kerala, India, in the Laccadive Sea. Only a handful of the islands are accessible to tourists, and not all of them are populated (permits required).
7. Puducherry: Pondicherry was a French colonial settlement in India until 1954, and it is now a Union Territory town bordering the state of Tamil Nadu in the southeast. The French Quarter, with its tree-lined avenues, mustard-colored colonial villas, and chic boutiques, preserves the city's French heritage.

Note: The Government of India substantially modified the administrative status of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir through the hard-hitting and broadly-reaching Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act in August 2019, in the midst of much controversy. The main changes included the division of the area of Ladakh and making it a separate "union territory" (UT). At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir's own administrative status was reduced from a state to a union territory.
