Hint- In the Cartesian coordinate system when we represent a point it is represented in a 2-D plane called Cartesian plane. Abscissa refers to the horizontal axis coordinate and ordinate refers to the vertical axis coordinate.
Complete step by step answer:
In the Cartesian plane we have two axes that are vertical axis namely Y-axis and horizontal axis namely X-axis. Representation of any point is done by the means of X-coordinate and Y-coordinate simultaneously. The abscissa or X-coordinate is the distance of the point from the vertical axis, measured parallel to horizontal axis.
Coordinates are represented in the following form:
$p(2,4)$
Here 2 is the abscissa of the point and geometrically represents that the point is at 2 units from the Y-axis.
Note- In mathematics, the abscissa and the ordinate are the first and second coordinate of a point in a coordinate system. If the abscissa and the ordinates of the points are given then we can determine the location of a point in 2-D Cartesian plane.
