After that the air reaches into the lungs from the trachea. Now inside the lungs the trachea divides itself into two parts, one for each lung. These branches are known as the bronchi. These branches are further divided further to increase the surface area for blood and oxygen interaction.
After the exchange of gases, the air comes out from the body following the same route.

During the intake of air, the oxygen gas enters into the lungs and by the process of diffusion it gets transferred into the deoxygenated blood which was coming from the heart through the pulmonary artery and the carbon dioxide from the blood is taken into the bronchioles and the pure blood is taken to the heart by pulmonary vein and the carbon dioxide is removed from the body through respiratory tract.
