Complete answer:
To answer this question, we should know about the two main timber trees of India. The two popular timber trees that are found in India are sal and teak trees. The teak is a tall tree that consists of quadrangular branches and they are deciduous. The leaves of this plant are simple, slightly obligate, opposite, cuneate at the base, acute at the apex, stellate tomentose beneath, and scabrous above. It has 25 to 50 cm of margin and 20-40 cm long. The flowers are small white, irregular, persistent calyx, hermaphrodites, gamosepalous. The teak trees are hard and strong, they consist of an oil that is involved in the preservation of timber. The timber is later turned into dark brown but initially it is golden yellow in colour. It is used as building materials, ship building, railway sleepers, etc. Teak plant is mostly found in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa. The sal trees are medium or tall sized, they are sub deciduous, the brak is grey or reddish brown, leaves are alternate, coriaceous, ovate-oblong, up to 30 cm long. His flowers are regular, small, hermaphrodites, and inconspicuous. In India, the sal trees are found in Ambala district of Haryana, Darrang of Assam, Kangra of Himachal Pradesh, Garo hills, Kamrup, Nowgong, Jaintia hills, and Khasi hills of North East India. Other states like Madhya Pradesh, Chota Nagpur, Andhra Pradesh, W.Bengal, Orissa, and Santal parganas district of Bihar the Sal trees are found.
Now, in India, the Sal and Teak trees are planted over 13% of the area of forest. In Madhya Pradesh the highest number of Sal trees are found and the North Eastern region grows the highest Sal trees as these trees grow in tropical moist and deciduous forest.

Thus, the correct option is ‘D’. 13%.
