Hint: 7 traits of pea plants were used by Mendel to perform his experiment. In his experiment, he identified traits in pure breeding pea plants. He then crossed the true-breeding lines and studied the hybrid plants.

Complete answer: Mendel conducted several experiments on pea plants and proposed three laws namely. He used 7 traits of pea plants namely, flower colour (purple or white), flower position (axial or terminal), stem length (long or short), seed shape (round or wrinkled), seed colour (yellow or green ), pod shape (inflated or constricted ) and pod colour (yellow or green). In the F1 generation, all dominant offspring were produced and in the F2 generation, 3:1 ratio of dominant: recessive were produced in case of the monohybrid cross, when one trait was observed. In a dihybrid cross, when two traits were observed, in the F1 generation, all heterozygous plants were produced and in the F2 generation, the ratio obtained was 9:3:3:1. 9 plants had both dominant features, 3 plants had one dominant and other recessive. 3 plants had first recessive and other dominant and 1 plant had both recessive features. Pod length was not used in his experiments.
Hence, option C is the correct answer.

Note: After conducting experiments on pea plants using 7 traits, Mendel gave the law of segregation, Law of dominance and law of independent assortment. Law of dominance states that in heterozygotic condition, the dominant allele masks the effect of the recessive allele. Law of segregation states that during gamete production factors separate and one factor from each parent enters the gamete. Law of independent assortment states that during gamete formation one pair of alleles segregates independently of another pair.
