We are going to do an algebraic expression here. Before solving this little algebraic expression, let’s understand what actually is an algebraic expression.In mathematical terms, an algebraic expression is an expression which consists of variables and constants, along with algebraic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Algebraic expressions can either have one variable, two variables or more.e.g., $5x - 10 = 20$ is an expression in one variable. This is the simplest to solve. We just shift the terms so that the like terms are on one side and in this way, answers can be found.Now let’s solve the given simple algebraic expression,
$ \Rightarrow 2x - 3 = x + 2$
By observation, we know that this equation is in one variable and it can be solved by simply shifting the constant term on the LHS to RHS and shifting the variable in RHS to LHS.
Hence simplifying,
$ \Rightarrow 2x - x = 2 + 3$
$ \therefore x = 5$

Hence, our answer is $x = 5$.

Note:The students must be aware of the fact that when we shift the terms on the other side, the sign of the term changes. For example, in an equation $x + a = b$ , when $a$ is on the LHS it has a positive sign. But when we shift it to the RHS, the sign changes to the negative sign. i.e., $x = b - a$.
