Hint: We have a linear equation of one variable in x. We have to solve it by using simple mathematical operations like addition, division, subtraction, and multiplication. We can solve it in two different types of methods. We can also plot a graph of this equation and have some observations from it. It is a very simple question and a graph can be solved once we get our answer.

Complete step by step solution:
According to the question we have to solve $4(x - 5) = 24$, which is just a constant function of the variable x
So, we have to just simplify it as shown
$ \Rightarrow x - 5 = \dfrac{{24}}{4} = 6$ (Dividing both sides with four)
$ \Rightarrow x = 6 + 5$ (Adding five to both the sides of the equation)
$ \Rightarrow x = 11$
Hence, $x = 11$ is the answer for our question
We can also proceed with it in another way as shown
$ \Rightarrow 4x - 20 = 24$ (Multiplying four with both the variable and constant on the left-hand side)
$ \Rightarrow 4x = 20 + 24$ (Adding twenty to both the sides of the equation)
$ \Rightarrow x = \dfrac{{44}}{4}$ (Dividing both the sides with four)
$ \Rightarrow x = 11$

Hence, with this method also, we get the result $x = 11$ as our answer.

Note:
We can clearly observe that we can solve it in two different ways. We can also plot a graph of this function and if we did it, we will observe that the graph will be a straight line parallel to Y-axis and perpendicular to X-axis and the curve passes through positive eleven. We can also observe that every constant function can be converted in this form by just doing some mathematical operations like addition, division, subtraction, and multiplication.
