Hint: Microsoft excel is a spreadsheet developed by Microsoft for windows, macOS and other operating systems. It features calculation, graphing tools, and visual basics for applications (VBA). We also know that subtraction is one of the four basic arithmetic operations, to subtract one number from another you use the minus sign. This method works in Excel too. We can also perform subtraction of matrices in the Microsoft Excel. Here, we will see the steps to perform the subtraction of matrices in excel.
Complete step by step solution:
The steps for matrix subtraction are as follows:
Step 1: make two matrices of equal number of rows and columns in excel, by writing one term in one cell of the excel.
Step 2: select a range of empty cells that has the same number of rows and columns as your matrices made in the previous step.
Step 3: In the selected range or in the formula bar, type the matrix subtraction formula:
\[\left( A:B \right)-\left( C:D \right)\]
Here A is the cell position of the first element in the first row of matrix one, B is the position of the last element in the last row of matrix one, C is the position of first element in the first row of matrix two, and D is the position of the last term in last row of the matrix two.
Step 4: press the keys on keyboard Ctrl + Shift + Enter to see the result in the selected empty cells.
Note: We can also do many other algebraic and statistical operations using the Microsoft Excel like, addition, multiplication, finding average, standard deviation. We can also plot graphs like histogram, pie charts for the data in the spreadsheets using different formulas.
