The Indira Point beacon was charged into administration on 30 April 1972. Found 500 kilometers north of the focal point of the 2004 Indian Ocean tremor, the southernmost tip died down 4.25 meters after the quake, and a considerable lot of the occupants disappeared in the torrent that followed.
Due to the tsunami and earthquake of 2004, around 5640 people were killed. It affected near the Indonesian islands Mathura track and its aftershocks persisted for a long time and affected Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The earthquake and Tsunami basically affected 14 regions and some of them were of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Indira Point is the southernmost location of Indian territory and it was also affected by this Tsunami. It provides directions to the ships that travel from Malaysia to India.
The villages affected are still underwater and they have around 1400 casualties in Tsunami. Even after so many years of the tsunami the link road still hasn't revived back to its original shape. It was a powerful undersea earthquake that caused a tsunami due to which is known as Christmas or boxing day tsunami.
