Hint: The above problem can be resolved using the concepts and the fundamentals for the transformers. Or we can say that a transformer is a device that is used for the purpose of obtaining the changed magnitude of voltage.
Complete step by step answer:
Following are the two-point difference between the step-up transformer and step down transformer is as follows:
Step- Up transformer-
1. The first difference is known as the physical difference as the number of windings of the coil is more in number in the secondary coil of the Step- Up transformer, as compared to the primary coil of the transformer.
2. Due to increased number of turns of copper wire, the magnitude of voltage supply is also maximum towards the side of secondary coil winding, rather than the primary winding with lower magnitude of voltage.
Step- Down Transformer-
1. Unlike the step-Up transformer, which has a maximum number of coil windings at its secondary side, the step- down transformer has its maximum number of turns of coil windings towards its primary side.
2. Similarly one can also observe the variation in the magnitude of voltage supply. As, the number of coil windings is more in primary side and less in secondary side. Therefore, the magnitude of voltage is dropped and less at the secondary.
Note:To resolve the given problem, one must know the meaning and purpose of using a transformer. For the various electrical analysis, we need to have various ranges of voltage, to which we can achieve easily using the transformer.
