Hint:
The total landmass of the earth is divided into seven major parts known as continents. These continents based on the order of their size are Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.
Complete solution:
The largest and the most populous continent on earth is Asia. It covers around 30 per cent of the earth’s total landmass and shares its land with the continents of Europe and Africa. Around 60 per cent of the population resides here. The continental mass of Asia is surrounded by the Indian Ocean in the south, the Pacific Ocean in the east and the Arctic Ocean in the north. In Asia, all mainstream religions are practised thus making it one of the most diverse regions. After Asia the second largest continent and the second most populous one is Africa. It covers 20 percent of the total of the earth’s landmass. Africa has much recourse but still has low per capita income. It is the only continent to stretch from the northern temperate zone to the southern temperate zone. It is home to various species but also faces many environmental issues. North America or the northern subcontinent of the Americas is situated in the northern hemisphere. It is the third-largest in size but in population, it comes after Europe. South America or the southern subcontinent of the Americas is situated in the western and southern hemispheres. It is fifth in population and Brazil is the most populated country in this region. Europe is located in the northern hemisphere region. It is the second smallest continent and covers only 2 percent of the earth’s surface. Australia is the oldest and smallest continent but is among the highly developed nations. It provides a high quality of life, health, education, and other facilities to its citizens.
Note:
Antarctica located at the South Pole region is a virtually uninhabited continent of the world. No human settlements are found here due to its extremely harsh climatic conditions which make it hard to survive for humans.
