The term monsoon was first used during the period of British India. It refers to the seasonal winds that blow from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. The Portuguese called monsoon Monaco and in the Arabic language, it is called mawsim. The effect of the arrival of the monsoon is different for different regions. Some places receive less rainfall and some places receive heavy rainfall. Sometimes it also disturbs the rainfall pattern. It can also be described as the sea breeze.
