Hint: We know that plastics are a polymer of long carbon chains. The word ‘plastic’ is derived from the Greek word ‘Plastikos’ which means ‘to mould’. Plastics are strong and ductile in nature. Plastics are poor conductors of heat and electricity.

-Plastics are classified into two types depending on their physical properties: Thermoplastic and Thermosetting.
-Thermoplastic: The plastics that can be easily deformed and easily bent on heating are known as thermoplastics. Examples: PVC, nylon, polythene.
-Thermosetting: The plastics that cannot be softened by heating once they are moulded are known as thermosetting. Examples: Bakelite, melamine, etc. Bakelite is used in making electrical switches and melamine is used in making floor tiles.
Now, we know that plastics are non corrosive in nature. Plastics do not react with the materials stored in them.
The examples to show that plastics are noncorrosive are as follows:
-Plastics are used in the storage of strong chemicals.
-Plastics are used in the storage of all types of foods.
Thus, we can conclude that plastics are non corrosive in nature.

Note: We know that plastics do not degrade and thus, plastics are non-biodegradable. Plastics do not decompose by the action of microbes on them. Thus, plastics should be recycled. If plastics are not recycled on time, they get mixed with other materials in nature and recycling of plastics becomes difficult. And thus, plastics then become a source of pollution.
