Hint: We know that solution is a homogeneous mixture comprising two or more substances. The component that dissolves the other component is termed as solvent. And the component that dissolves in solvent is termed as solute.
Complete answer:
An emulsion is a colloid consisting of two or more non-homogeneous types of liquids. It consists of a dispersion of two liquids which are immiscible with each other. One of the liquids act as the dispersion medium and the other act as the dispersed phase. Alcohol in water is an example of liquid in liquid type solution. It is an emulsion type colloid. In this mixture, both alcohol and water are dissolved completely.
Additional Information: On the basis of amount of solute present in the solution, solutions can be classified into three types. They are saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated. Saturated solutions are those in which at definite temperature they reach their limits to dissolve any more solute in the solvent. Unsaturated solutions are those in which the concentrations of solutes are smaller than their equilibrium solubility. That is all the solute dissolves in solvent. Supersaturated solution contains more dissolved solute and is dissolved in the solute forcefully by increasing the temperature.
Note: A student gets confused between miscible liquids and immiscible liquids. Miscible liquids are those in which two liquids completely dissolve in each other. On the other hand, immiscible liquids are those in which two liquids do not mix with each other and produce a separate layer.
