Complete answer:
India is one of the largest producers of milk. The dairy industry produces milk, cheese, ghee, butter, etc which is supplied to all over the world.

The requirements for milk production is as follows,
>The cow has to be in lactating period
>Once the milk is collected is pasteurized. Pasteurization is the process by which the milk is heated to a high temperature for less than 15 second. This is done to remove all the harmful microbes from the milk
>Then the milk is homogenised
>The milk is then packed

Over the years, with increase in demand, adulteration of milk has also come into practise. Adulteration of milk means adding different substances in order to decrease the quality of the milk, but increase the quantity. The substances that are added are known as adulterants and common examples include starch, soap, detergent, sugar, etc. Addition of adulterants makes the milk unfit for consumption and can even make it hazardous too.

Note: Dr. Verghese Kurien commonly known as the father of “White revolution” is the founder of Amul industries. The revolution has helped India to be one of the largest producers of dairy products in the world.
