> Cereals- Cereals crops include wheat, rice ,corn, maize ,barley & millets, etc. Usually, cereals are composed of 60 to 75% of carbohydrates, 7 to 12% of protein with very less amount of fat. So, cereals provide us with a sufficient amount of carbohydrates for energy requirement.
> Pulses- Pulse crops include chicken peas or Gram i.e chana, black gram or urad dal and green gram or moong dal, Soyabean, lentils, etc. Pulses have higher protein content then cereals that are about 20 to 40 % of Protein and about 60–75% of carbohydrates, small fat content.
> Fruits- Fruits like, apple, chikoo, pear, mango, etc. are mainly composed of carbohydrates whereas avocados and similar fruits have higher quantities of fat. Fruits along with carbohydrates, proteins and fats also provide large amounts of essential vitamins, minerals. Some fruits also give roughage, which is also important part of daily food requirement.
