Complete answer:
The geocentric model was proposed by Ptolemy. Geo-centric models are also called the Ptolemaic system or geocentric system. The universe is formulated by the Alexandrian astronomer and mathematician Ptolemy developed mathematically.
The Ptolemaic system is a geocentric system such that all are started by assuming that Earth is in a stationary state and it is the center of the whole universe. But the people predicted in ancient times that heavenly bodies like the Sun, Moon, stars, and planets should travel in uniform motion along the circular path. However the paths of these heavenly bodies are observed that they are not moving circular motion.
Ptolemy’s geocentric model explained this imperfection theory by postulating that the irregular movements of the planets were a combination of several regular circular motions seen in perspective from a stationary Earth.
Hence, the correct answer is “Option A”.
Ptolemy was the Greek astronomer and mathematician who proposed that the earth was at the center of the universe. Nicolas Copernicus explained that Ptolemy theory was incorrect and he proposed the theory of heliocentric which says that the sun is at the center of the universe.
