Hint: It is a country which is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Wales to its west and Scotland to its north. Complete answer: Mahatma Gandhi sailed for England on 4th September, 1888 in order to study law and become a barrister. He kept terms at the Inner Temple and right after nine months hard study he took all his subjects in one examination that he passed successfully. He was called to the Bar on the date of 10th June, 1891 and was enrolled in the High Court of England the very next day. One day later, he sailed home. After his return to India he started practicing as a lawyer at first in the High Court at Bombay and after a little time in Rajkot but anyhow he did not make much headway in the profession. It was only then ,when the hand of destiny guided his steps to South Africa that he soon made his mark there as a lawyer as well as a public worker. Gandhiji also practised as a lawyer for over twenty years before he gave up the practice of the profession for devoting all of his time and energy to public service. The valuable and knowledgeable experience and skill which he had acquired in the course of his large and lucrative practice stood him in good stead while fighting his battles with the South African and British governments in order to secure political, economic and social justice for his fellow-countrymen.
Mahatma Gandhi was not a visionary but a practical idealist. As Sir Stafford Cripps has already remarked: "He was no simple mystic; combined with his religious outlook was his lawyer-trained mind, quick and apt in reasoning. He was a formidable opponent in argument."

Hence, Option A is the correct answer.

Note: Gandhiji was born on the date of 2nd October 1869 at Porabandar in Gujarat state. His father's name was Karama Chanda Gandhi, mother's name was Puthalibai. He got his primary education from Porbandar and his law degree from England.
