Hint: This is the process relating to protecting the iron from corrosion. This is sacrificial protection. In this the zinc on the surface of iron formed a protective invisible thin layer, when come in contact with moisture, oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Complete step by step answer:
First we define the galvanisation as the process of covering the iron from more active metal i.e. zinc to protect the iron from corrosion i.e. from rusting.
Since iron is a reactive metal, hence it reacts with atmospheric oxygen and moisture and corrodes. The reaction of iron with moisture and atmospheric oxygen is known as rusting. Rusting is known as an electrochemical process. To protect iron from rusting we use a different method in which one is a sacrificial method, which is defined as the method in which the surface of iron is covered by a layer of more active metal i.e. electropositive than the iron to protect the iron from rusting.
As the time passes the more active metal gets consumed but so long as it is present there.
The metal often used in protection of iron by covering the surface of iron is zinc. And it is named as galvanisation. Hence we can say that the galvanisation is a process of protection.

Hence, the correct answer is option (b).

Note:
Galvanisation is done by electrolysis. We can also say it is electro-plating. We can also use copper instead of zinc by electro-deposition from the solution of copper sulphate.it is also a sacrificial method.
