Tinsel type is divided into three types according to the arrangement of mastigonemes.

b) Pantocronematic: Pantonematic flagellum with a terminal fibril. Example: Mercilus.
c) Stichonematic: the mastigonemes develop only on one side of the flagellum. Example: Euglena and Astasia.
